Before I start this post I would like to state I am not on a liquid diet. I just like trying out vegetarian/vegan protein drinks to make sure I get the most out of what I eat in a day, especially when time is not on your side haha! Huel Ready-to-drink is part of my balanced diet.
I have seen Huel nutrition floating around social media for a while now but it’s only recently that I decided to give one of their products a try. I went shopping the other day in Sainsbury’s for vegetarian goodies when I noticed this drink near the milk aisle. Huel ready-to-drink complete meals, containing 26 essential vitamins and minerals, carbohydrates, protein, fat, fibre and phytonutrients.
If you have read my blog or followed my social media then you would have seen that I have lost 40lb in Lockdown. All of this done without restricting my diet and keeping myself active. Very simple. Check out my post on how to keep fit during lockdown.

Tried & Tested
Huel Ready-to-drink complete meals come in 4 delicious flavours; vanilla, berry, chocolate and banana. They are vegan friendly and gluten-free.
Huel comes in a 500ml bottle which is a brilliant serving size. The first thing I noticed was the calorie count which is 400 calories. When I have tried other meal replacements in the past the calorie count has been roughly around 200-250 calories, which In my opinion is pretty darn low. So it was a breath of fresh air seeing a more decent calorific meal.
I was so surprised by how deliciously smooth the vanilla Huel ready to drink was! I have had other shakes where they are gritty and heavy but this went down a treat. The taste is lush and it really fills you up until your next meal.
The bottle
Now I know plastic isn’t a wonderful thing ideally but this bottle is made from 51% recycled plastic and its 100% recyclable. The other top 6 beverage companies only recycle around 7% of their plastic!

My thoughts
I am pleasantly surprised with this complete meal drink because it actually kept me full till my next meal. Now, I wouldn’t have it every day but it’s ideal if you’re in a rush or if you have those days when you don’t feel like eating a solid meal.
The texture is smooth like i said and it’s so easy to drink with an awesome taste! It’s like a thick vanilla milkshake with so many more benefits. I’m looking forward to trying the banana flavour next time!
Over the next few weeks I will be trying more protein based drinks and reviewing them on blog so keep a lookout for them in the near future.
Until next time everyone
