Hello everyone! I hope everyone is well? If you are a reader of my blog, you may have seen a very positive review of my thoughts on the Huel Ready-to-drink meals in a bottle. The drink was perfect for me when I am in a rush. Since trying the ready to drink meals I decided to give Huel Black Edition (meal replacement) a try.
You may have noticed If you follow me on social media I have lost over 50lbs by having a balanced vegan diet. I never gave up my snacks, especially chocolate LOL. No food restrictions just planned out food so that I login into my food diary.

Huel Black Edition
Huel Black Edition contains 50% fewer carbs, 33% more protein, no artificial sweeteners, and is naturally gluten-free. They is 7 delicious flavours to choose from.
Tried & Tested
I was kindly gifted the Banana and Vanilla flavour black edition shake powders. Each bag contains 17 meals and when bought as a duo they cost £1.47 a meal.
Firstly I tried the banana flavour and I will be completely honest, the flavour did not take my fancy. It was like a natural banana flavour and for me, the sweetness wasn’t there which I usually like in a banana shake. If you like a natural subtle banana taste then you will definitely like this flavour.
The vanilla shake was much better for me as it was the perfect taste for my tastebuds, yum. The shake is quite thick but I like thinner shakes so I like to add more plant-based milk to thin it down a bit. For a smoother taste, I would recommend using a blender for a smoother velvety taste. Drinking it is easy because it tastes nice (taste makes a huge difference for me)

My Thoughts
As a meal replacement, I think it’s got a perfect balance of carbs, fat and protein. As much as I love it, it’s not something I would drink every day but more like something I would have a couple of times a week. My favourite time of day to have it is lunchtime but can be had whenever you like.
Out of both shakes vanilla is my favourite and I love mixing it up with almond milk, delicious! I like adding more liquid to thin it down a bit because since its 400 calories and 40g of protein it can be a heavier shake than a usual meal replacement.
So is Huel Black Edition a good meal replacement? For me, I would and say yes me for sure! I am so full for a few hours after drinking this shake, so yeah it does the job when it comes to what a meal should do, fill you up. I love that it has every nutrient I need and more!
