My thoughts on the new Mr Lee’s Porridge & Congee Pots

23 September 2021      22 Comments

Hello Everyone

I have changed the way I eat over the past year and now I think about what will be best for me and my family. I was kindly sent these pots of joy from ‘Mr Lee’s‘. So check out the rest of the post for ‘My thoughts on the new Mr Lee’s Porridge and Congee posts!

I have tried many varieties of porridge over the years ( which I love) but this was the first time I have tried a congee. Congee is basically like a savoury porridge. I sure was excited to try it. All of the flavours I tried here are vegan/vegetarian friendly.

My thoughts on the new Mr Lee's Porridge & Congee Pots
All the products here are vegan friendly

These tasty treats from Mr Lee’s are certified low sugar, vegan and gluten-free.

What I tried

Original 3 Grain – Simple yet very tasty. I added a little bit of sweetener to this as I like my porridge sweet. This is a blend of 3 grains in coconut milk.

So Very Berry – My favourite out of the sweet porridge. The berry flavour does not taste fake but rather nice and real if that makes sense. Like the above, it’s a blend of 3 grains; strawberries, raspberries and goji berries.

Salted Caramel – If you love a blend of sweet and salty they this will be for you, a perfect blend of both. This is also a blend of 3 grains with coconut and coconut blossom sugar.

Original Congee Rice Porridge – Now the one I wanted to try straight away ( I did ‘haha’) Anyways this is a traditional savoury rice porridge made with a blend of grains, soy sauce, ginger and spring onion. I was very surprised by this because I love it, so nice! I need to get it again for sure.

My thoughts

I enjoyed all of these products and would sure try them again. Lov they are low in sugar and portion size, so an ideal snack or a side for mealtimes. My favourite has to be the original congee as all the flavour was perfectly balanced, the spring onion was the icing on the cake for me.

As a veggie finding foods that fit into my fitness lifestyle isn’t always easy but when brands offer lower sugar options with the adding bonus of having variety, I am a happy bunny.

I have to admit I’ve tried other things from Mr Lee’s but never their porridge! I think it is something I will have to give a whirl as I do like having a warm breakfast when the weather is colder.
