I really love visiting new places but for me, they are no place like home! I have lived in Glasgow going on 5 years now and just love it that its truly now home for me. I am going to tell you some amazing things to do while in Glasgow on a budget (under £60 to be precise) if any of you are planning a visit here on a budget or just like saving money.
Glasgow is defiantly worth a visit as its Scotland's biggest city and is rich in history and things to do, more in which il explain about in the post.
If you are planning a visit to Glasgow check out the amazing prices over at Megabus which is the simple way to travel at affordable prices.
1. Visit the city centre - The city centre has something for everyone with a variety of shops that sell clothes to tea rooms. The city centre is also designed beautifully in the winter months with Christmas decorations. Restaurants are plentiful and suitable for any palate. They are also many hotels dotted around suitable for many budgets inducing the ibis which costs around £37 a night.
2. Go to a Museum - One of my favourite places to visit in my free time are museums. Riverside Museum has cars from every decade and also old transport too. Outside they are also a tall ship which you can climb aboard. Visiting this museum is free and it also has a cafe if you get peckish. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is an amazing place to see art and historical things from around Glasgow and the world. It also has a cafe and a restaurant.
3. Have a refreshing walk at Glasgow Green - This is about 15 minutes walk from the town centre and is next to the river. On the park, you will see an amazing Queen Victoria fountain and also get a chance to have a look round the 'Peoples Palace and Winter Garden's' which is a lovely giant greenhouse with an array of tropical trees and flowers. Visiting here is also free and has a cafe inside it to visit too.
5. Try some delicious food: I must admit I love some yummy food and go out to eat whoever I get the chance. One of my favourite places for a sweet treat has to be 'Tantrum Doughnuts' which sells a lovely variety of handmade doughnuts, my favourite is pistachio and hibiscus. If you love cafe food and drinks my favourite has to be 'Pizza Punks' They have an amazing selection of pizza toppings and the pizza is very fresh, they also have friendly staff. If you can't choose between sweet and savoury Id recommend 'Stack and Still' it has a yummy selection of sweet and savoury pancakes.
6. See the historical Glasgow Cathedral - This was built in 1197 and has amazing stained glass windows post-war. You can get a guided tour during your visit by looking at the times available on their website.
7. See a show at Theatre Royale Glasgow - If you love live musicals or comedians then this is definatly for you! Currently coming up in 'We will Rock you' and also 'Shrek the Musical'.
I hope you all enjoyed this post. If you have visited Glasgow before or live here, tell me your favourite places to go or do in Glasgow!
Until next time
