Lockdown Dairy: I shaved off my hair...

Hello everyone!

Now you may be all wondering why on earth I have decided to go for a buzzcut! A few things came into a play to why I decided to do this, now more than ever.  My hair has been pretty darn damaged from the number of times I have dyed my hair and also bleaching it. I have lost count the number of times I have done the process throughout the years.

Now I can't complain I have enjoyed having so many different hairstyles and looks but my hair had enough recently as I overdid it with the hair bleach. I bleached my hair twice over the span of 2 days and my goodness it was so damaged and brittle that lots of it broke even by the slightest touch. I thought putting a dye over it would help with the damage but nope it didn't. It just looked patchy and super dry. They were only one thing for me to do...

I was contemplating whether to cut my hair short or whether to go for a buzzcut. I decided to go for a buzzcut as I have never hair that kinda hairstyle before. I got my partner to do my hair but the clippers broke when my hair was like 70% complete so we ended up doing it on the lowest setting. I have to admit I was super shocked at the results at first... I even cried. Took me until the morning to relax and actually look at the results properly.

I got up and did my usual routine of having my breakfast, skincare then applied my makeup. I felt so much better than with the results. I had a couple of headaches for a few days after which I dunno why but i think they were caused by a lot of hair growth from my scalp.

I was a bit nervous to wear my hair as it was for a while in front of my friends/family on facetime so I would usually wear a scarf or a wig as I didn't want people to laugh at me. I need not of bothered worrying as when I showed them the results a week after they all thought i suited it! My confidence was boosted, yay!

Its been over 2 weeks now since I cut my hair and I still like the results and I pretty shocked at how fast my hair has grown already. I don't think I will keep it this short though. I am going to carry on growing it from now on.

I must say that a buzzcut needs a lot of thought because hair growth can be a very slow and lengthy process!
What do you think?

I hope you all enjoyed this post!
Until next time

Mel

  1. It looks amazing on you! You really suit it. Is that it for dying your hair now.... or at least bleaching it twice in two days.. It is a beautiful style on you though.

    Hope you're keeping well

  2. A drastic haircut always takes a bit of time to come to terms. I had sort of medium length hair, and went for a grade 4 all over lockdown cut at the weekend. Short hair might not be as “unusual” for a man, but it is for me. It’s taken me a few days to get used to it.

  3. It looks stunning on you! You have the cheekbones and head shape to pull off the shaved look. Even if you do plan on growing out, try something with an undercut!

  5. You still look good even with your hair shaved off. I won't be able to say the same for me, so I don't think I can do what you did. That's a pretty bold move!

  6. You can totally pull it off! I always wondered if I would ever have the guts to do the same, and maybe one day? It will be awesome to have all your new un-damaged hair. One of my teachers in school when I was growing up would always say to us, if we wanted to do something big - do it to our hair - because it always grows back and you can do something else!
