Trying out YO! Sushi in Glasgow

9 June 2018      2 Comments

Hello, Darlings!
I recently tried Yo! Sushi last year after being tempted to go there for years but never got round to going. I have been here so many times that I have actually lost count of the number of times I have been here now, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxing too.
Yo! Sushi is a Japanese restaurant that can be found in many locations in the Uk. They sell sushi and much other Japanese food too. They have a takeout service too so if you want to take it to a meal at home then its fab.  I have been to the ones in Braehead, Glasgow fort and Silverburn; I loved each location but Glasgow fort is my favourite. They serve food on conveyor belts and you choose what you want and if you want hot food you simply as the waiter by pressing a button that informs a waiter you are ready to order hot food or drinks.

Tantrum Doughnuts in Glasgow | Review

30 May 2018      Leave a Comment

Hello, Darlings!
I am a big fan of trying new foods, especially when its doughnuts!
Tantrum Doughnuts is an award-winning doughnut shop based in Glasgow and was founded in 2015. The doughnuts are so delicious looking that they would make Homer Simpson jealous that they had to expand to 2 shops to meet demand. All of their doughnuts are handmade and with traditional bakery, techniques compared to mainstream factory-produced doughnuts. Each doughnut is made with a yeast-raised brioche bun which is proofed for 16 hours to develop the flavour; talk about dedication eh?

I have loved doughnuts for as long as I can remember and the all-time favourite doughnut I’ve had was when I went to Mexico City when I was 15. The doughnut I had was made in a small shop and it was bright pink with pink sprinkles on top and my goodness it was huge and the most delicious doughnut ever.
Tantrum doughnuts have 2 locations but the one I went to is in the west end on old Dumbarton road. The shop is small but it inviting as the decor is lovely and you can see all the doughnuts and drinks they have available in a glass case and also on the chalkboard above the counter.

You can eat inside the shop even though they aren’t a lot of room; if you can find a seat it’s possible. You can take out as they put the doughnuts you choose nicely into boxes or a bag. If you buy a dozen or more they take 10% off. They also have a selection of hot and cold drinks.
So what did I choose?
I choose a selection of doughnuts to give a try with my family. I think I got most of the menu LOL.
Vanilla Creme Brulee
Pistachio & Hibiscus Ring
Peanut Butter and Jam
Lemon and Poppyseed ‘old fashioned’
Tonka Bean and Orange oil ring
Almond Glaze buttermilk ‘old fashioned’
I have to admit I love how unique the flavours of these doughnuts are. I have never tried most of these kinda flavours before trying tantrum doughnuts.

I didn’t know which doughnut to start with first because they all look so fluffy and delicious to eat! I just chose pistachio and hibiscus first because I just love pink and my goodness does I love pistachios, they are just delicious that I could demolish a packet in no time.
So how did they taste?
Vanilla Creme Brulee If you love the taste of creme brulee then this is the doughnut for you as inside the doughnut it’s filled with a soft delicious vanilla centre. I am not the biggest fan of creme brulee but my son loved the crispy outer of this doughnut and soft centre of this doughnut.
Pistachio & Hibiscus Ring Can I have a crate of these doughnuts, please? Honestly, this doughnut is so delicious, it has a pistachio glaze and hibiscus reduced with a topping of crunchy candied pistachios. If you ever visit Glasgow I would definitely recommend this doughnut.
Peanut Butter and Jam It’s peanut butter jelly time! If you love peanut butter teamed with jam then this doughnut is for you! It has a lovely topping of thick but creamy peanut butter with a centre of homemade raspberry jam.
Lemon and Poppyseed ‘old fashioned’ This is an old-fashioned buttermilk style doughnut with poppy seed and lemon glaze. I can’t say I am a huge fan of this as I found it a little bitter.
Tonka Bean and Orange oil ring This doughnut is infused with tonka bean and orange oil. I am not the biggest fan of citrus things but if you love citrus with a hint of sweetness then this is definitely a doughnut for you.
Almond Glaze buttermilk ‘old fashioned’ This is a buttermilk style doughnut with an almond glaze. This doughnut as it was nutty yet milky in taste.
Double blueberry and white chocolate I have never seen a square doughnut before. This doughnut is a buttermilk style doughnut made with fresh blueberries, blueberry jam glaze and white chocolate. This doughnut kinda reminded me of a blueberry muffin, very satisfying.

My thoughts
I enjoy getting doughnuts here from time to time as it’s nice to support an independent store rather than just getting the usual store-bought doughnuts. These doughnuts are a bit more expensive than store-bought ingredients but the prices can be justified because of the flavours they have to offer and all the doughnuts are handmade every day.
I can’t say I loved all the flavours but then again I can be super fussy at some points but I did love most of the doughnuts I bought and if I didn’t my family sure did. I would definitely recommend giving their doughnuts a try with a fresh coffee.

Pizza Punks in Glasgow Review

11 May 2018      Leave a Comment

Hi Everyone!
Some of you may know that I don’t live in Glasgow at the moment but I do visit there a lot to see family and just visit from time to time. I love the food in Glasgow they are many different food places and restaurants to choose from and so many of them are just gems that I look forward to going back to shortly as they just tantalised my taste buds.
I have been meaning to go to Pizza Punks artisan wood-fired pizza in Glasgow for many months now as the front of the restaurant just stands out with its punk style ( reminds me of my favourite wrestler CM Punk lol) Not only that I just love pizza and just had to try it.

During my time in Glasgow, I have tried so many amazing foods and went to many lovely restaurants that are just delicious. In Glasgow, I actually looked forward to trying different foods as they are so many places to choose from.

Pizza Punks is slap bang in the middle of town in Glasgow and can be found at 90 st vincent street which isn’t a too long of a walk from central station it is also next door to bread meats bread and over the road from a restaurant, I’ve wanted to visit Topolabamba which is a Mexican street food restaurant with cocktails in actually drooling right now writing about food LOL.

The interior looks very punk style with a huge ale tank near the front door. They are lots of seating so most likely you will find a seat without a booking. The staff were super friendly and as soon as we walked in around lunchtime a nice waitress took us to our table with a menu and told us how the options of pizza they have and also the option in which you can make up your own type of pizza with as many toppings as you like for only £10.

I ordered myself a margarita pizza with rosemary & sea salt garlic bread. I also ordered myself a cocktail seeing as I fancied it called a punk mojito. Who else loves how refreshing mojitos are?

The menu isn’t huge but they have lots of pizza toppings to choose from including halal and vegan options. I think it would have been nice if they offered fries or something like that on the menu as I found it a little lacking for sides.

The drinks came in under 5 minutes which was super impressive and the pizza took about 10 minutes to come which is amazing seeing as its handmade and cooked in a clay oven in front of you. The garlic bread came in a basket with tissue and the pizza came on a big plate with a metal pizza cutter which was brilliant and I need one for my pizzas at home it was that good!

The garlic bread was just delicious and I savoured every mouthful as it had a decent serving of cheese on it and had plenty of garlic to give it that delicious extra flavour ‘yum’. The pizza was OK but I can’t say I was bowled over by it because the flavour was ok but it was lacking for me and I had to dip it in lots of sauce as I think it could have done with more sauce and maybe a bit more cheese.

The bill was just under £30 for both of us which is decent for a meal for 2. I might be back here in the future as the Freakshakes look amazing.
